has been obsessed with fish since a young age. Born and raised in Central Pennsylvania, he grew up fishing, canoeing and swimming in the Juniata river. Most of his summers were spent in the river, catching minnows and crayfish or using a mask and snorkel to explore the underwater world around his home. He has always been and continues to be interested in the workings of nature.
Raised by two art teachers, Nate has always enjoyed making art. He has been working on a series of fish paintings since 2011, Nate considers his paintings to be conservation art. He believes that by depicting a single fish on a white background the viewer will have to pause and consider each animal as a living jewel; an individual with its own intrinsic beauty and worth. Nate wants you to marvel at the often overlooked intricacies of color, pattern and structure present in every living creature, no matter how small or unassuming, and to recognize that each creature has value as part of our biological heritage. He has begun working with conservation organizations, where possible, in the hopes that his art can be used in some way to help preserve our natural world and its inhabitants.
Nate lives with his wife Jenn in Central Pennsylvania. He works during the day as an Elementary Art teacher and paints by night.
